Colored Pencil, on 9x12 black paper.

I have no idea what possessed me to draw Koi. These guys have been swimming around in my head for a couple of months wanting to be put on paper. I like Koi and think they are pretty to look at and fun to feed, but really no idea why this image popped into my head. It's not like I've been visiting any Koi ponds or anything lately :-) I don't know how correct these are to real koi - I wasn't using any references for this other than the image in my head. They were fun to draw though and something different than I normally draw. :D

This is just beautiful. Definitely one of the most beautiful fish pictures I've ever come across on DeviantArt. It really stands out. Amazing work.

The detail of especially the fins is stunning :) I don't know if you did this on purpose, but I get a bit of a ying yang feel from this :D

Thanks. No, I didn't do it on purpose - LOL! I kept having this image of these koi swimming around in my head and that's how they came out when I sketched them. It was more about trying to get a fluidity of movement within the space of paper than a ying yang type of thing :)
